ARMY PANZER WRAP
This is a Heer EM's Second Pattern Panzer Wrap of late-war manufacture. The wrap is made of black wool/rayon blend material. It is a waist length, double breasted style tunic with fold back lapels and a large lay down collar. The left front closure panel of the tunic has four concealed buttonholes and an additional three visible buttonholes on the fold back lapel. The right front closure panel has four large corresponding buttons and three smaller buttons which are all intact.
The edge of the right front closure panel has an additional two small buttons positioned underneath the overlapping left closure panel with two and internal fabric loops. The right breast features an early pattern machine woven national breast eagle in white rayon thread on a woven black rayon base- obviously from leftover stocks. It is originally machine sewn with its backing in a triangular pattern and does not go through the lining.
While the belt support hooks are not present, the straps are intact, as are the ties to adjust the waist. The sleeve cuffs each have a small vertical outside seam slash with dual corresponding buttons. The tunic retains it's original, slip on style EM's shoulder boards. The boards are made of black wool, with pink rayon waffenfarbe piping. The shoulder straps pebbled, alloy, retaining buttons are intact. The tunic has a large lay down collar with the typical zigzag reinforcement stitching to the reverse.
It features a pair of original to the tunic, black wool construction collar tabs with a set of stamped, alloy, Danziger jawless style Totenkopf, (Death's Head) collar badges, which are pushed through the tabs, via three prongs. The collar tabs are machine stitched to the collar, and are piped with pink rayon waffenfarbe. The interior breast panels are lined with smooth light green cotton/rayon material.
The lining features a horizontal slash patch pocket to the lower right breast panel and a vertical slash pocket to the upper left breast panel. The upper left lining is well marked with the contractor and size markings to include an RB number and '44 date. The tunic is free from any moth holes, tears or damage. The color is bright, and all buttons are original to the tunic. The overall condition is near mint.
