This is a well used Kriegsmarine tropical pith helmet. The helmet is made of formed cork, and is covered in a ribbed, tan/khaki cotton twill. The helmet features a six panel, vertically seamed, tan/khaki cotton twill crown. The all around visor is shorter at the front and consists of a formed cork core with a two piece tan/khaki cotton twill covering with vertical stitched seams at each side. The edge of the visor is trimmed with stitched on brown leather. The helmet has two stamped metal shields with the gold national eagle to the left side and the national tricolor shield to the right side; they are unbordered which is correct for the KM. There are no extra holes, and the insignia is original to the helmet. The entire exterior, with the exception of the leather trim and shields, has been daubed with a white coating, possibly chalked. The bottom edge of the visor is lined in green cotton as is the interior crown. The interior of the helmet has a tan leather sweatband, stitched to a pressed cardboard liner band which is attached to the helmet by six prongs.
The underside of the sweatband is marked by the maker C. Pose, dated 1941, and size 56. The obverse has an inked owner's monogram. The helmet comes complete with its original brown leather chinstrap.

This is a scarce French-made blue tropical pith helmet.
Some of these were captured and issued to the Luftwaffe. It is made of formed cork, has a four-panelled top and is covered in blue-grey cotton.
The interior is lined with the same blue cotton, and features a brown artificial leather sweatband with size sticker 4/55.
The helmet is complete and appears unworn, yet has been adorned with Luftwaffe helmet emblems, likely post-war.
The brown synthetic leather chinstrap has one repair.

WWII German Luftschutz Beaded M40 Helmet.
The helmet retains about 98% of its original Luftschutz blue satin finish.
The front center of the helmet has a Luftschutz decal and is about 98%.
The helmet has an embossed cut-out ventilation hole to each side of the crown and all three of the flat headed liner retaining rivets are intact.
The interior of the helmet has leather six finger civil liner in good condition.
Chin strap is present but broken.
The M40 Helmet is marked "Q64" indicating manufacture by F.W. Quist & size 64 with batch number "R523" ? hard to read.
Good display condition.

The size is marked inside of the liner with red inkstamp 55
and dated with black inkstamped 1942
The liner is also marked with black inkstamp :" M" in the shield

Model 1938 Luftschutz Helmet.
This is the three-piece, beaded version of this type.
The smooth blue finish is fully intact.
The Luftschutz decal is 99% finish.
Each side of this lightweight helmet has a pair of ventilation holes.
The interior is excellent.
There is a brown leather, three-pad liner.
There are labels "Vertieb genenehmigt gemas & 8 Luftschutzgesetz " and size (Kopfweite: 56) and stamp RL 2 - 38/28.
